EDIT: This description has just been completely erased and retyped (July 28 2014).

This was the first lyric video I made. I was 14 when I made it. I wrote the "meaning" of the lyrics in the video because I really wanted to give a COMPLETE interpretation. I didn't want to not be able to explain some lines, or have some lines seem to contradict the analysis I proposed.

Obviously, this was a silly thing to do. I didn't do it again.

Yes, I am also WELL aware that this song is not the lyrical equivalent of a master-level 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle. It's poetic, but it conveys its message very clearly.

I would prefer to make a new Vicarious lyric video and have it take this one's place, but I can't do that. This video has made its way to 600,000 views, and people see it. People don't see videos with zero views. They don't show up in searches, and they don't show up in "related videos" or "recommended videos". And the video is generally very popular. So it will stay.

One last thing: this very well may not be done intentionally, but I've noticed that the "bluntness" of the lyrics reflects the theme very well. Being entertained by death on a primitive or instinctual level is a... well... primitive thing.

Primitive ~ blunt ~ straight-forward ~ simplistic ~ basic. I'm sure you can see the relation between the concepts.

Why can't people realize that any great song gets that way because of it's lyrical ability to resonate with something within yourself? Any great song writer has this proven ability. The words connect with you and your life. You're just putting your own interpretation on the words. Why can't you just be content to know it worked for you, and that it works for others in their own way? Take Passive, by A Perfect Circle, the song is a dad talking about his son's failure to do his best in school. When you look at it that way it makes perfect sense. But it resonated with you originally for some personal reason. Take what you will from the music and lyrics, please. But don't try to explain the writers point of view in the song. 90% of the time you're so tragically wrong

Never in my life have I heard an artist have such course explanation of the human race. Every point made is sad and true in nearly all of the songs written. Rock on brothers and stay true to yourselves.

my name is chad gray and i made the comment 2 days ago and the reason i made it is that what if the pronoun i is an allegory. its hard for me to believe that people inherently enjoy suffering.

Not everyone is enthralled with destruction only the less evolved. The meaning of the song is how the less evolved like to think we are all the same. As for nature nothing is more gentle in and of itself. Its us, human beings that are hostile toward each other and nature. The true nature is human kinds want for power over other people and the natural universe lies in the thought that we are powerless. This is the lie.
