I knew the song but never imagined who was singing it...crowner stylised Mr Orlando has a bit from the great Frank Sinatra.

Interesting fact, the yellow ribbons that you see on peoples' cars that say "support the troops," stem from this song.

Such a wonderful song and lots of good memories attached. My boyfriend tied yellow ribbons on the antenna on top of his house for me....

On this day in 1973 {April 21st} Dawn performed "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" on late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... And on that very day it peaked at #1 {for 4 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart... To put a cherry on top of it, it also reached #1 {also for 4 weeks} on that day in the United Kingdom... In Canada, Johnny Carver's covered version peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on June 16th on the RPM Country Tracks chart... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...

Hello my friend impala3400. You are so right! I'm 45 YO & I too grew up watching the Carol Burnett show, The Andy Williams show, The Sonny & Cher show & the Tony Orlando & Dawn Variety shows back in the day of the early-mid 70's. You are so right when you say that that was real entertainement. Alot of the "reality" shows on TV nowadays are totally pathetic. I understand that reality shows are the "In Thing" right now but come on now, TV just ain't like it used to be back then. Hail to the 70s
