One of my favorite vocalists, and perhaps my very favorite male vocalist

He sings with the old bel canto technique, wonderful mask resonance

A rich lyric baritone like there's none nowadays.

Such an incredible voice. I was watching an old movie one night and I came across a singer that took my breath away-I found out later that it was Tony Martin. I adore this mans talent and natural gift with no formal training-unbelievable. He married the incredible Cyd Charisse, dancer/actress; they were married for 60's years till her death in 2008-talk about a power couple! They wrote a book about their lives in the early 70's "The Two Of Us". If you like Tony Martin, you will want this book. Both found their talent at a young age and both have stories that will amaze and entertain you; some of the stories are missing pieces of information about famous people that I always find fascinating. The people they knew. Loved hearing this recording--thanks for sharing!!!

I have listened to Tony Martin for 60 plus years and my father for years before me. I never get tired of listening to a true artist. His music flows so naturally, NOT the yelling and screaming that is supposed to be music. I admit, I'm very old fashioned when it comes to this music. A true love song you can sing to your sweetheart.

I've been listening to artists on this song all morning, this is the first one that I absolutely adore!!! Other posters are so right, Tony Martin's control and use of his beautiful voice is entrancing on this song! I'll be searcing more of his work! I do like his voice better than 'Dean,' better than Sinatra, or Bennet and others more well known. Gonna be listening to this version ALL DAY now!!. Sorry Edith.

Mike: You would love John Gary, Vic Damone or Jack Jones. Go in YT and listen to Jones sing "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life". Absolutely perfect. No one like them around today. Tony Martin was so good - never got the appreciation he deserved. He was outshadowed by Sinatra and Bennett. Frankly, I think he is better than Tony Bennett. Did you know Tony Martin was married to Cyd Charisse? They had a beautiful marriage until he passed on.

Well I've had quite the timbre and placement change as of late. I'm not as weightless and much more steely. In fact I can carry the weight of my lower register up to my highest belt without much effort and still sound manly. Visit my soundcoud at black robin to see. (Kind of abandoned youtube)... I'm also a big fan of vocal pedagogy now and study it all the time outside of school work.

Keep singing with what you were given and practice! practice! practice! See you at Carnegie Hall (inside on stage or outside trying to get in)

My god, the suppleness and control over the vocal line.

With only one earphone working it sounds as if Tony is standing close behind me and singing into my ear.

LOL, no you don't, you sound like a light lyric tenor, not effeminate but young and sentimental

He makes me wish I was a baritone... Everytime someone hears me sing, they mistake me for a woman if I'm singing above A# below middle C.... But then again...no...no point in justifying it...I sound like a shemale... :*(

Listen to Dean Martins version, the only one I've heard that can hold a candle to this other Mr. Martin's version.
