As another commenter said, I agree. Love to hear songwriters sing what they've written.

I stopped listening to Tony Joe White when he started doing covers of commercial records like Wichita Lineman and The Look of Love probably pushed by his record company he seems to have had a problem with that wonderful voice don't know much about that but I'm back listening to Tony Joe White because life gets shorter you must surround yourself with things that make you happy like tjw love his Blues I wish they would take down those covers but we love you tjw

The Europeans, Australians, Scots, and Irish appreciate him more than Americans do. He hit big in Germany on his first record.

When he sang on the Letterman show  . . . after he was done, Dave said if I could sing like this guy I'd just tell everybody else to go to hell.

It takes real talent to get such sweet tone from that guitar

One hell of a songwriter! Some great chords on this song. Puts you right down on a back alley in downtown Atlanta every time you hear it!

I remember hearing this song when I was maybe 10 or 11. Loved it....One of the first songs I figured out on my acoustic. This live rendition is just great...man, just great. His guitar work gives just the right touch to the song. Backing work from the band tops it all off. A classic.

Thanks for the heads up. However, I think that he doesn't have much of a voice!

Combination of great keyboards, Tony's sensitive touch on the guitar and his mellow husky voice make this easily the best version of this song - and I'm a Brooke Benton fan!
