It looks like a Marine Band, by Hohner, harmonica.

Elvis is wonderful, but no where near as raw as TJW, its just the truth, TJW had real soul in him.

All you need is a guitar and a little drums.  Add a little harmonica as a condiment.  True swamp.

The food is "poke sallet", not "polk salad." It's the stewed leaves of the poke plant. "Sallet" means cooked greens.

as so many other songs this also was  written normally to be sung by Elvis and he smelled it right after  White released it. And as proven, Elvis made it a hymn!

I have been following TJW since he released "Polk Salad Annie" in 1968. He just seemed to be more comfortable and more accepted in Europe. Especially France since he is from Cajun country in Louisiana. He has written many songs that people like Waylon Jennings, Elvis and countless others have performed. I have over 30 of his LP's and really enjoy his "laid-back" style.

He does sound great! He opened for and performed with the Carpenters in their early days, but there seems to be no footage of them performing together. That is basically how I  found my way here. And he is still out there playing and recording. Great!

I never heard of this guy. He's good. Should have had more publicity than he had. That's what happens when you don't have the right people behind you. I never knew he wrote & sang 'rainy night in Georgia'. I like both of these songs. He kinda favor Elvis.
