I still have to find a version of this song, I do not like. Even the German version by The Piano Has Been Drinking from the 90s pushes all the right melancholy buttons.

Weaving words together like only the barstool philosopher can. And that intricate barroom piano melody, just wowza! An ultra-bittersweet tune that elicits tears of sorrow upon every listen. From a varied album that didn't receive a lot of acclaim, but another feather in Tom's cap as far as this humble man is concerned.
