I just found that out. ......I was Reading..The Bangles From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -- - In 1988, while recording his album Full Moon Fever, Tom Petty and his lead guitarist Mike Campbell called on the group to provide backing vocals for the song "Waiting for Tonight". The song never made it to the album, but instead made the compilations Playback (1995) and Anthology: Through the Years (2000).

Glorious song. Are The Bangles playing all the instruments? I love the bass and the sweet backing vocals. Tom's voice is a unique pleasure, and this song just flows so smoothly. He's a master.

I love Tom Petty and have done for over 30 yrs. Interesting to hear his influence on Killer's song runaways. Sounds as if it could have been written by Tom himself.

i have searched for this for so long and at the time i couls not find it and i jnew who sang it and i knew who was in the background singing cked on youtube under both groups and NOTHING for years and just finding it now.!!!! THANKS to who ever posted this

This was recorded at the end of the "Full Moon Fever" sessions. The Heartbreakers did not play on this song. It's just Tom, (my favorite guitarist Mike Campbell) and special guests The Bangles. The background harmonies on this song by The Bangles are spectacular! Really special. I could listen to this song every day and never get tired of it. Tom says this could have been one of his biggest hits if they had released a video for the song!
