Champagne Love (Deal It Out 1981)

I don't wanna go out on Friday night, baby, with the boys

I don't wanna sit around & watch those football games

I don't wanna go out & mess around, no no, on no midnight ride

All I wanna do is lay right here with you

With your champagne love, with your champagne love

With your champagne love, champagne love

I don't wanna go out on Saturday night, baby; it's my choice

I don't wanna be out chasin, wastin' my time

I don't wanna go out & hang my head down, no, in some funky bar

All I wanna do is lay right here with you

With your champagne love, with your champagne love

With your champagne love, champagne love

Yeah!

The only song Tom was involved in was "Walk on the water" on the first CCR album.Tho your right about them writing together on The Blue Velvets/Golliwogs songs.

Tom's been gone for 23 yrs. now. A lot of voices change as we age. Tom's likely would have changed some as well as the years went on.

Tom and John co-wrote songs for The Golliwogs and the first two CCR albums.

I know Harrison wrote many songs: I am a fan. I meant Lennon/McCartney let him do a song or 2 per album. Fogerty would not let Tom even do that. He wanted to do every song on each album, until it was too late and Tom left. Mardi Gras would have been much better if Tom had stayed and wrote and sang on that album.

George wrote more than a song or 2. He wrote many songs for the Beatles, Something and Here comes the sun for example=)

@TeamMastaPr2 I agree with that as well shame Tom doesn't get much recognition I love the song structures of both the Fogerty's and Tom's guitar work is what I aim for!

@saidramos77 I'm pretty sure many of the Tom Fogerty written songs could have been big Creedence hits like John's songs.

@muskox63 Some might argue that made them (the Beatles) a stronger band to have George and Ringo do more than just be instrumentalists, it added to the dynamic. With CCR a change like that in the middle of their career might have not gone well. Of course, it didn't hurt Fleetwood Mac that was all men and suddenly this chick comes out of nowhere and starts singing and playing piano...

@muskox63 I agree with you on this. I swear regardless of what was put on the labels that at least a couple of songs attributed to Tom were actually John. Perhaps that's the secret behind the arguments. We will never know.

@mikehanoo33 too true. although it seems that tom's voice has stayed the same over the years more than john's which no sounds kinda awkward and watered down now.

John had to start somewhere , and Tom already had a certain vocal style that John grew up with and heard around the house , as tom is 4 years older , they do sound a lot alike to me , but john took it to the next level and was able to write and produce on a cosmic level , amazing work , and Tom never tuned into this cosmic force on the same level , still decent but not close enough . All great vocalists copy people , and John is no exception .

I think it was Tom copying the CCR sound not John copying Tom's style. Tom's solo career flopped, so there was no reason John would copy him. Also name me one song of John's that sounds like this. The song is pretty good, but Tom did better. Also Tom just didn't have the lyrical talent and voice that John had. I like some of Tom's music, but this pales in comparison to John's good songs.

I agree that John should have let Tom write and sing a song or 2 like he wanted. It didn't hurt the Beatles letting George & Ringo do a song or 2. But the others couldn't write or sing and didn't want to and John forced heir hand & Mardi Gras was a terrible album as a result.

It sounds like John copied a lot of his brothers style , John really should have lightened up and let Tom and the rest of the group contribute more , God bless ya Tom . Oh well CCR is still my favorite group of all time from America .
