I'm Russian and Russian isn't known for being soft either. So I can take the awesomeness that is German language ;) German is a very beautiful language.. it is sad that when I tell a German person that their language is beautiful they don't believe me and think that I'm just being nice or worse they try to prove me wrong :O First time I heard German I didn't know that it was German and was completely entranced with this mystery language..turns out it is the "ugly" German I heard so much about.

It technically in the sense of the german language is translated as The Last Day but since Letzte can be put as final,last,end it can be translated to as The Final Day

lol no. my answer was to what giraffe2149 has written. letztes jahr is last year, but if you say last day in German it would mean "gestern" (yesterday) so it is the final day

Native German here, infact my personal opinion is german is a quite harsh language compared to english, sure you CAN speak english harsh however usually its spoken in a small slur and you cant do that with german

it does actually not, the media and television etc just want to make you believe german sounds harsh. every language can sound harsh or smooth, depends on who speaks. the main sound of a language is the same in every language :)
