Well. it's good, but Todd doesn't put quite enough aggression into this version when compared with the original. He does a much better job with the other covers on the album.

Jeff Beck was asked about this version of the song and said he didn't care for it. He thought it was poorly done and that it missed the musical point of the original song by underplaying the propulsive guitar and bass theme and overemphasizing the vocal line. I can hear what he's talking about, the original and live versions done by The Yardbirds had an urgency to them, where this one falls flat and doesn't seem to go anywhere in particular. To each his own, though.

I love Todd and the Yardbirds. Todd does an excellent version.. I love the Yardbirds original as well.. both are great.. When artists do a cover of another artist.. it's an honor to that artist.. I'm sure the Yardbirds felt that honor when Todd did this cover. btw, Todd, Jeff Beck and da boyz are friends and get along just fine. Thanks Todd.. and Thanks Yardbirds. Been a fan since 1965 and Todd since 1967 NAZZ (which Todd used that name from side B "The Nazz are blue")
