the song refers to the conflict between Jesus's brother James and the apostle Paul who likely did not know Jesus well if at all but claimed to have spoken withJjesus after the brutal murder. James was surely traumatized witnessing his brother's death while the leaders in Jeruslahem did nothing to prevent it and his loss is evident in the phrase "like water thru my hands". He does wonder tho if this is the beginning of something transformative for world. My only brother died in a drunk driving crash so I feel that phrase "they took my brother-- they ripped him from me".
