Please tell me how dressing up in different costumes and performing in a music video (like EVERY singer does) constitutes as Tina trying to be a dramatic actress? Don't be ridiculous. If this was true she would've played herself in her own movie and/or taken the role as Sofia in The Color Purple, which was offered to her. The only role I know of that she got turned down for was as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost (she was turned down for being too sexy), and the casting director insisted she audition for the part, it wasn't as if Tina was begging for the role. It's called the Hollywood Version because she's dressing up as famous characters from other movies lol Not trying to show off her "potential as a dramatic actress". Go watch the non-'Hollywood' version of this video since it's too confusing for you and don't demean Tina Turner.

This is one of my absolute favorite Tina songs. But, this video made no sense at all. I think it was really designed to showcase her potential as a dramatic actress, which she was really trying to be at the time. Still LOVE LOVE LOVE this track! I wish she would have sung it more after the Break Every Rule era.

Very strange how this intriguing video was not included in the EMI Tina Turner Video Collection DVD. EMI ripped off the fans excluding it and others too.

Combining the original version upto the 2:12 phone booth metaphor of shelter then it continues on with THIS version but do away with all those hollywood getup distractions which I think take away from the message and emotion of the song. Just leaving Tina on that lonely stage singing to no one is more compelling, no vignettes. Oh well, thats if I was the director! A great song that still means something so many years later, what a gift from Tina. - G
