The 30s, 40s, and the Hollywood musical like so many others I grew up with, and queued up at many a first or second house Cinema to see Miss Grayson, films like this one. It Happened in Brooklyn, On the Town, Anchors Aweigh and oh so many more this tired old brain can't remember. At 78 and thanks to YouTube the likes of us who love this genre can live it all over again and delve into the nostalgia of it all.Thank you Varadero

This is from the film "It Happened In Brooklyn" and Sinatra introduces the song (with Jimmy Durante at the piano) earlier in the film. I think his version was far superior, but then, I'm not much of a Kathryn Grayson fan.

Grayson had voice lessons, also Lanza,Eddy,Durbin and all the Hollywood operatic singers and many of them sang at the opera:Nelson Eddy sang many operas before, during and after his Hollywood days, Mc Donald sang two Gounod operas, Lanza started in Mem Butterfly and would have sang at the Met in 1960Toscai f he hadnt died in 1959,T th,ey wanted Durbin to sing at the Met after she left the movies but sher retired Grayson sang many recitals and also Camelot after her Hollywood days and Ann Blyth and Dorothy Morrow also sang in the opera. Im not talking about the opera singers who went to Hollywood but all of them had voice lessons and were well trained.

Here is one of the old time greats singing with Frank Sinatra. She made a lot of musicals and we often forget the many great stars who made those films possible, bringing joy to a generation that loved the musical. Sinatra is at the piano and Peter Lawford, a member of the Kennedy clan, stands watching with star dust and love in his eyes as Grayson sings.

I agree on all counts! Also, you're the 2nd person to have found this as a result of "Evening." I'm not much for what they're producing these days, but "Evening" was a blessed surprise for me too! Thanks so much for writing, and I'm a huge fan of Ms. G myself. If you have time, please check out my channel; lots of KG there! Thanks again!
