baloney! the song was written by Billy Roberts. maybe he heard an older song like Tim claims he did, but except for "blue steel," and "found her in bed" the lyrics are the same as Billy's copyrighted version. nice performance though--much more spirited than like he sang it in 1967.

Rose's 1966 recording of this song (search YouTube for "Evolution of Slow Version of Hey Joe") is faithful to the words of Billy Roberts.

A cover of what? It is a Traditional tune that dates at least to the 1910's, the lyrics were changed to the Hendrix style vesion, good as it was, by Roberts in the early sixties, about '62. William Roberts heard the traditional song sung by his girlfriend, her name escapes me at this time. Just found her name, Niela Miller.

I was lucky enough to see him play live in about 1999 at The Pheasant Inn (Sheffield Lane Top). Great performer and raconteur.

I like this cover very much, but I have a hard time with all the lyric changes. Make it your own, but don't change the lyrics.

one way or the other, tim rose had a great voice. his morning dew was outstanding. influenced a lot of 60`s beat groups. robably better if you don`t look at him!
