This version of "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning" goes back and forth between the musicians, both instrumentally and vocally. They are pushing each other to the edge and performing for the sheer enjoyment of it! This album, "We're Usually A Lot Better Than This" was done as a benefit for a school that each of them had a child in. It was recorded in 2005 and 2006 at two school benefits & released in 2012. It is just about as close to a porch jam you are going to get. Enjoy!

This is from "We're Usually A Lot Better Than This" which is from a live concert done for their children's school. They self produced it because they wanted it to be done 'plain, with warts and all'. Enjoy!9 years ago

I do too! I like this better than the other version I have up by them. I like this live, "go for it" type singing and playing best. (Guess it's cause I'd like to be sitting there listening!) You are seeing a pattern. I am glad! He is one of the best mandolin players, fiddler's, and guitarists in the USA. He does wonderful Celtic also and travels to Ireland to do "jams" and singing with the musicians there. (He does backup work also. He doesn't feel he has to be the "Star", which is very nice!) I think these 2 concerts are a really nice way to raise money for your kids school. It sure beats selling candy bars, like they usually do!
