This did well on Capital Radio in London and reached number 13 in their chart in April 1975.

In Scandinavia we not know him ( until now ) Such a great loss! We only knew he'd written ( Bay City ) Rollers & Records - Rock and love letters.

Radio 2 can always do better. Would this artist ever feature on the Sound of the Seventies ?

OK, this one has stuck with me for 35 years for a really odd reason. I'd just started a post-graduation trip around half the country -- with baseball as a theme -- and the first stop was Philadelphia. I checked into the motel that afternoon, flipped on the radio while unpacking and what was playing? This song, which I'd never heard on the radio before and have never heard since! And now the internet reunites us!

First time I've heard this version. Did not realize he wrote it. I have Eric Andersen's version on a 45, but cannot find it on any album or CD. I like Eric's better but probably because I heard it first and am more familiar with it. Funny how that works. Thanks for posting.

Hey! A guy named Tim Moore was Kingfish on the old Amos 'n Andy TV Series! This song was also recorded by a friend of mine from Buffalo, N.Y. John Culliton Mahoney, who had a hit with the Ballad Of Evel Knievel.

This song should've been a much much bigger hit than stalling at #93. What a crime!
