I remember the first time I heard this song in the spring/summer of 1994 when I was 5. I didn't really understand it at the time but I eventually listened to the lyrics a bit closer and it's such a sad ending :( but I like to think that the mama did survive.And I certainly know how 8-year-old Johnny feels.
