Set This Circus Down - 11. Angry All The Time

Here we are

What is left of a husband and a wife four good kids

Who have a way of gettin on with their lives

I'm not old but I'm getting a whole lot older every day

It's too late to keep from goin' crazy

I got to get away

The reasons that I can't stay don't have a thing to do with being in love

And I understand that lovin a man shouldn't have to be this rough

You ain't the only one who feels like this world left you far behind

I don't know why you gotta be angry all the time

Our boys are strong the spittin image of you when you were young

I hope someday they can see past what you have become

And I remember every time I said I'd never leave

But what I can't live with is memories of the way you used to be

The reasons that I can't stay don't have a thing to do with being in love

And I understand that lovin a man shouldn't have to be this rough

You ain't the only one who feels like this world left you far behind

I don't know why you gotta be angry all the time

Twenty years have came and went since I walked out of your door

I never quite made it back to the one I was before

And God it hurts me to think of you

For the light in your eyes was gone

Sometimes I don't know why this old world can't leave well enough alone

The reasons that I can't stay don't have a thing to do with being in love

And I understand that lovin a man shouldn't have to be this rough

You ain't the only one Who feels like this world left you far behind

I don't know why you gotta be Angry All The Time

I don't know why you gotta be Angry All The Time

I feel like this is me for certain parts of the song talking to my Dad. My Dad was an IBM Executive who traveled all the time. I only remember him yelling at my brother and I and then taking My Mother out for Lavish dinners and shopping spree's. I felt like he was Angry All The Time. Still doesn't make up for all the years he missed of Mine and My Brothers lives.

I feel like this is my dad takling to my mom. And when he talked about the kids it exactly matched me and my brother. It kinda came to a shock because i forgot about this song.

To Becka Boyd: You copyright songs not patent them. I googled your dad. Sounds like he must be quite a guy but don't know what the point of saying he wrote this song. Unless the song was stolen from him or he gave it toBruce Robison as a gift or something like that, what's the point in telling us? If either of these two things happened please share the story.

And yes it was written by joe Boyd my father! Lmao it's funny that everybody can say it was written by this guy but I have the proof!! But it wasn't patented so it's not illegal so guess it don't matter just makes me mad to here it with a couple of words switched but it's just a couple of words but I do have the proof

I remember this album from when I was five (I'm fifteen now) and this is the kind of music I like... I guess you could say it isn't the usual music for a fifteen year old of today... However I love Tim McGraw

I'm so glad this song was written by the guy they say did lmao! Whatever! Drives me nuts to hear this song! But guess you can steal songs from people if they don't have them patented. Makes it legal. And change a couple of words. So just wanna thank the original writer.. My dad

I too grew up in such a situation and see it with my parents all the time. I dont know why one of them doenst move on, the old reasons of being brought up that it was wrong just do not work anymore. I pray that it does not happen to me. I believe being married to the right man in the first place makes a difference. I do not believe my parents should have even been married.

Honestly, this makes me think of my parents. The anger in my mother's eyes, I fear it's in mine too. This song serves as a reminder. It's beautifully sad.

One of the best songs to come on down the pike in a long long tome , one of the most underrated songs in as many years.
