Tiger Rag was recorded and copyrighted by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in 1917. It was one of the bands greatest hits. The band itself consists of 5 members who are drummer Tony Sbarbaro (aka Tony Spargo), trombonist Edwin "Daddy" Edwards, cornetist Dominick James "Nick" LaRocca, clarinetist Larry Shields, and pianist Henry Ragas. I hope you will enjoy this catchy tune.

Bing Crosbys movie "Birth of the Blues" was loosely based on these guys. So it's worth giving it a watch if you like them.

Jass, not Jazz. They changed the name later, but Tiger Rag was recorded under the name 'jass band'.And, it's interesting that the band literally pre-planned any 'improvisations'...they literally could not improvise.

Not your fault, of course, but not a very good transfer. Whoever re-masters these CDs should take more care. For one thing it's too fast and the tone is ill-balanced.

do not know why, but I've always been a big attraction for the ancient, not modern music attracts my attention, I feel very vulgar as all those perverted women. I think that's why I like more the old, the former is much better than all those indecent things coming out now, and that I have 24 years

This is the first published Jazz song... EVER. The band's leader Nick Larocca claimed to have invented Jazz, which is obviously not true, but this is still an amazing track. Thanks for sharing!

Through youtube we hear music of bygone days which even our grand parents couldn't hear so easily. This is technology advancement over the years.
