I didn't like this album originally then I came back to it. It's production quality is top notch compared to previous albums. You can hear each instrument very nicely compared to some previous songs that just sounded like slapping on the fingerboards in some parts of some songs. I have a gut feeling that if this album had a final pressing that sounded like an analog recording people would go nuts for it. Its got that slightly overproduced signature in some spots but it's a nice break from the countless "billy" bands that recorded albums in a sandbox. I'm not saying that any type of recording sound is better than the other it's just nice that the option is there to listen to if you so choose. I think people are a little too critical of this album. In a genre that's already a very niche sound I don't think it's a bad idea to have different styles within that genre. You want 100 billy bands that all sound the same? Seems pretty boring to me.
