T.I. is the Layne Staley (Alice In Chains's lead singer/face of rock music in the 90's) of rap. Layne wrote about the struggles of a junky and how he wanted to kick addiction and it kept pulling him back in until it finally took his life in 2002. RIght around the same time T.I.'s first album dropped. I compared the two because they both tried to educate the youth and keep them away from the problems they created in their own lives. And to those who couldn't escape it they both let the listener know they weren't alone. T.I. it was living life as an outlaw, Layne it was heroin addiction and a father who left him early in life and got Layne back into drugs later in life. Both put so much pain, agony, into their music. And it wasn't like they were bitching about how unfair life is. They weren't just making shit up and putting on an image like all artists do, they both lived everything they sang about. You can just tell by the passion and delivery in their music. They both love their fans and wanted them to feel like they weren't alone. RIP Layne, the greatest singer to ever touch a mic and a beautiful, kind, humble, real man.
