Never too late to learn my friend. How do you think originally, some older Nordic musicians like Jon Noedtveidt for example learned English but by growing up with 'Slayer' or something; reading lyrics is a good start t learning a new language, and a rewarding feeling.

@JFuzzman Oh, ok. I`ve in that case mostly heard black metal like satyricon.

@ivegot2words4ya yeah, I get them mixed up often xD umm, Opeth isn't really black metal, their more of a alternative/soft rock/death metal band with the occasional jazz influences. The main differences between death and black metal, is just black metal tends to be more raw, with (usually but not always) satanic lyrics, with shrieks. As death metal, is normally real technical, with gory lyrics and growls/grunts. :P

@JFuzzman It`s ok. It`s easy to confuse Greenland the icy one and Iceland the green one. XD I think I also messed up on black and death metal. Once when I was young and my brother played Opeth, I asked what genre they was and he said that they played black/death metal and that it was basicly the same thing and you know, as being a little girl who always looks up to her brother and always thinks he`s right, I just believed him, but now I`m not really sure what the definition on death metal is.

@ivegot2words4ya I also realized I fucked up this morning xD I was tired I meant to say "Iceland" not Greenland. And trust me most of the people don't like how the economy is doing, the wars and how everything is being settled here. I'm pondering becoming a Canadian actually. Yeah, pioneers come from all directions, although I do think Celtic Frost and Venom were more so pioneering black metal from their raw sound. Personally I like a lot of Scandinavian music, Bloodbath and Opeth, especially.

@JFuzzman I really like some american music, I just don`t like their visions and economy. And not all the pioners from death metal came from America, they came from ENgland, Switzerland and Germany. You know, Celtic Frost, Venom and Kreator.

@ivegot2words4ya If you want to get that technical then Greenland would have the most rights to viking metal because they kept the language of the Norsemen. I was only saying that I'm tired of this 'American music always sucks' mentality, when they wouldn't have this music if it wasn't for American bands. Sure I don't really follow the U.S metal scene anymore, but magnificent music was coming from here 10 years ago.

@JFuzzman Sure, america came with death metal, but the three first bands that founded black metal came from Switzerland, Great Britan and Sweden and from there came alot of other branches including vikingmetal, even though it seems only logical that vikingmetal should be played by scandinavians since we`re the original and real vikings, but I guess Thrudvangar may adopt our culture if they want.

@ivegot2words4ya because they're expelling energy that clean style vocals are capable of expressing

@berserkr452 No I think it's rather even considering that it was an American band that made Death metal and another American band that perfected it. Where would we be without death metal? xD I'm not hating on Europe and most of my favorite bands come from Europe I'm just saying.
