I listened to the Freddy Taylor recording of this from 1935 and I also realize that the riff in the head here was a development from the Charleston riff used in the 1930 Cliff Jackson recording "The Terror."  But by the mid-1930's the style had become more relaxed as the Swing Era built.

another one you guys might want to try is Jimmy Mundy's "Mushmouth", originally recorded by Claude Hopkins and His Orchestra in 1932.  This music meshes the HOT DANCE BAND style of the 1920's and the early part of the Great Depression with the Big Band Era Swing style.

Wonderful arrangement and playing by the whole group. I love the mood/atmosphere you are creating. If you guys do any touring please make a stop in Chicago!
