It's not that simple, unfortunately. The bass is plenty loud here (listening through Adam A5's in a treated room). But a bass is not a guitar and will never sound like a guitar (and vice versa, of course). Adding more bass would only add more low end, not fill out the midrange where the guitar would sit. On the record, in the "missing places" there's clearly guitar. This explains why Adam tends to be playing guitar in other live performances of this song.

I agree. The bass needs to be more audible, in order to fill up the sound. It's not really a biased opinion, most seasoned rockers and industry experts will agree. Bassists deserve more action!
