Album: Dale Thompson & The Religious Overtones

Title: Thought I Met the devil

Artist: Dale Thompson

Band:

Dale Thompson: Vocals

Troy Thompson: Guitar

Donny Erwin: Bass

Bob Ramsey: Organ

Miles Davis: Baritone Sax

Gary Falk: Tenor Sax

Jerry McBroom: Drums

Also Featuring:

Steve Ferguson, David Hune, Greg Martin, Jim Baugher

This second solo effort by Dale Thompson is much different from his first. He combined the talents of the region's most talented musicians to assist him this time. This recording, like his first, is a concept that shows one man's struggle through life. Many of the stories that are incorporated are

from Dale's past. Using real horns, keyboards, and many other unusual instruments, Dale produced a very believable blues recording. This record is available in stores and was originally distributed by Rugged Records.

Lyrics:

I saw him coming in his duesenburg sj

Through a cloud of dust like nitro

Wore his beard like rain dog waits Had the head

of john the baptist on a silver plate

We sat on sad stools biggest part of the night

Had holes elbows of my shirt and the bar lost it's shine

I told him I wasn't a drinker

I never drink

He said have one

have two

have three on me

He picked a five string Gibson

that wouldn't stay in key

Said he'd played the tomb

but the seats were all empty

Pickled politician in Washington d.c.

soaked them in the Potomac

until their skin turned green

He drew a raven from beneath his top That Lit a candle

picked a rose

watched the stock market crash

Drank the rust from a wet cigar

Spit out the sailors like vinegar

He wore all black with bells on his boots

Mississippi string tie and solid gold tooth

Swore he pulled the trigger on John Wilkes Booth

No grey bar hotel or dye on his roots
