You are correct on both counts. Robbo is "Rocky", and Phil is "Johnny". Don't listen to that other guy. He's dead wrong about the Rocky Athas bullshit. Robbo said in a biography of Phil that was published in 1994 that Phil wrote Rocky about him. Robbo was brash, cocky, and a carouser. He was fearless, and he took to rock stardom like it was nothing. The more famous Lizzy became the more arrogant and cool Robbo became. Robbo is God.

This song has nothing at all to do with a low-level super-nobody like Rocky Athas. One source who is completely familiar with Thin Lizzy and is an indisputable source of information said he had never even heard of Rocky Athas. yup, knew it when it came out..saw R.A./Lightning at Ma Blues a couple times back in the day. he was doing all those Billy Gibbons tap moves and had that flashy toothed smile Phil references...the chicks really did do a double-take when he pulled out the moves..he was/is always smiling while he plays - a great player, i still jam on Home Again (local hit in Dallas) for kicks.
