Another demo off the Black Rose Sessions. This is an early version of "Ode to A Black Man", which ended up appearing on "Solo in Soho". This version, despite a few minor sound glitches, kicks the other version's ass. Gary Moore plays a sweet lead (even after Phil tells him to go back to playing the intro) and Huey Lewis plays a great harmonica as well. Just an excellent version.

He clearly says "Huey, play the intro", which explains why Huey reappears with the harmonica. As you were, Gary.

Love it. Thanks SabFan. Always dug the studio version. Can't believe this couldn't get any state-side airplay while people ate up disco.

Yes, this DOES mercilessly kick the ass of the version on Solo in Soho -- and I LIKED that other version, too. As a guitarist I know what it's like to be entirely taken over by the groove, so I can understand why Gary simply HAD to shred, even if it did piss off Phil, hehe.
