Lyrics:

Education, micro-managed.

MBA: a doddle mastered.

City-bound, Canary Wharf.

A cushy number, fluky bastard.

Banker bets and banker wins, never missed yet, for all his sins.

Hedge funds, wraps and equities.

Lackeys, aides in fierce attendance.

Trusts and gilts, reserve currencies.

Liquid gold in safe ascendance.

Banker bets and banker wins, never missed yet, for all his sins.

Treat myself to quality time, test a porsche and snort a line, eat Hermione for lunch.

Set that glum PA a-jumping, book front-row tickets for something after we munch.

Fast-tracked futures, hard-nut traders.

Feeding frenzy, pigs a-troughing.

Fuelled by forecasts, and hot share options.

Big fat bonus in the offing.

Draconian calls for regulation

are drowned in latte with Starbucks muffin.

Mortgage melt-down: non est mea culpa.

Threatened exit, stage left, laughing....

Banker bets and banker wins, never missed yet, for all his sins.

Banker bets, cheque's in the post: not worth the ink it's written in.

Ian said he wanted to use the same sonic palette as number one. Interesting...he used musicians from this generation. They had to adapt to the older palette.

So, so cool!  Having been a fan back in the 70's, this is like being able to go back in my mind, wonder what Jethro Tull would sound like in 40 years... and finding out!  Not sure what I would have thought of this as a teenager, but I can say without a doubt that this rocks!  PS -  The album this comes from (Thick as  Brick 2) is really quite good.  Excellent collection of songs, very much in a "modern" Tull/Anderson style, as one might have hoped it could be looking forward "back in the day".  Probably the best effort by Anderson in a decade or more, IMHO.

Come On People, Ian Anderson with Jethro Tull was the most creative, mind expanding, heavy, light and in between rock and roll music ever created. No, Music ever created, their music was not just R&R, it was a dimension of music, Cult Following if you must, only people with a high enough intellect can really want to listen to over and over and even by yourself if you must. Come On People, you young, highly intelligent people go back and check out all the old Tull albums. My personal fav, "A Passion Play"!

I saw the show twice:  Lynn, MA, 10/12 and Portland, ME 10/13.  Ian Anderson is, in my humble opinion, our greatest living rock and roll composer, singer, songwriter.  This album, and this song in particular, show his indefatigable mastery of the genre.  Floren's guitar work picks up where Martin left off.  I'm looking forward to the new album and the next tour.

Can someone please explain me what does "Eat Hermione for lunch" mean? Actually it's the whole refrain "Treat myself [...] after we munch" that I didn't understand, but the Hermione part is the one I'm interested the most in. Thanks!
