For some reason, this song isn't on Youtube in high quality. It's a song about matricide! Please do not kill your mother because of this song. That is no good.

Lyrics:

Someday Mother will die and I'll get the money

Mom leans down and says, "My sentiments exactly

You son of a bitch"

I palindrome I (I palindrome I)

I palindrome I (I palindrome I)

And I am a snake head eating (snake head)

The head on the opposite side (snake head)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

See that bulletproof dress hanging from the clothesline

See the medical chart with the random zig-zag

Now I'll help it decide

I palindrome I (I palindrome I)

I palindrome I (I palindrome I)

And I am a snake head eating (snake head)

The head on the opposite side (snake head)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

"Son, I am able," she said

"Though you scare me." "Watch"

Said I. "Beloved," I said

"Watch me scare you, though"

Said she, "Able am I, Son"

See the spring of the grandfather clock unwinding

(Egad, a base tone denotes a bad age)

See the hands of my offspring making windmills

(Egad, a base tone denotes a bad age)

Dad palindrome Dad

I palindrome I (I palindrome I)

I palindrome I (I palindrome I)

And I am a snake head eating (snake head)

The head on the opposite side (snake head)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

I palindrome I (manonam)

It seems to logically follow that palindromism is hereditary. Mom and dad are palindromes, so I must be a palindrome, too.

Don't forget, this song was recorded sometime in 1991, which is a palindrome year. But, it was not released until early '92 unfortunately.

I think they had one (an HFSestival) recently (last year?) since HFS reconstituted on the Internet. Station went off the air on the radio a while ago and 99.1 band was used by a country station. Actually I think they're back on the dial somewhere again now as a Baltimore station now for about a year. But I live too far away to get it now though I think you can still get a feed on the Internet. They don't seem quite as edgy as they used to be but maybe that's because what's mainstream now wasn't then.

I remember fondly the HFStival I attended where they were the headliner act right when this album came out. it was AWESOME and the last HFStival that was in a more intimate venue than the stadium event it became....

I still don't get why the first part is palindromic in its conception.

I think one of the band had just learned the word palindrome and wanted to right a song about it :P

It SHOULD be! (Like 'phonetic' should be spelled with an 'F'!!!)

This is the song that got me hooked on TMBG, for over a decade now. I first heard them on Tiny Tunes with Istanbul and Particle Man. This was the first album I bought, and the second I heard this song, I knew they were to be my favorite for long to come. Best song on the album IMO. All you fellow TMBG-lovers, you are awesome!
