I believe that before there were The Darlings this song was on a record of a live show ("Live at the Green Onion" maybe?). I used to have it all those years ago! One of the best that ever there was... We used to go down to Branson area and pass the old mailbox on the way that said Dillard... I wonder if there are any Dillards still down there in the Ozarks...

I do believe this is actually The Dillards playing this one. They called themselves "The Darlings" on the Andy Griffiths show in '63 when they did it.

We're all young in our hearts... And we'll ever be, regadless of the physical age. Thank you, The Dilliards and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band! Warm greetings from across the ocean...

The Dillards did not always have a woman with them. The version that has the added verse was sang with males in he lead and females helping with harmony. The Dillards wrote both versions of this song. A lot of artist think they can sing this song and most cannot. NGDB are the closest that I have heard.

this sounds nothing like the original this one is slower and without a womans influence in my opinion this version sucks compared to the original

This is just a great song - one of the greatest and it was written by the Dillard band members Rodney Dillard and Mitch Jayne. Jayne was great with words. I think the Dillard's original version is the best but the Link Family does a great job of it in a harder driving bluegrass style.
