A great & often "forgotten" folk troubadour of note, Lyricist & trouble soul. How else would he have felt the empathy & known what he wrote about, thereby saving us having to walk that lonesome path. RIP you who gave me many moments of retrospect & understanding, outside of my own selfish circle.

timeless, timeless. Saw him perform in 1966, I think it was, can still vividly see and hear him. He had a huge impact on me in the 60's.

It's about 40 years since I've heard this song. I couldn't even recall who sang it. Upon hearing it again, now I can. Phil has now given me a new YouTube tangent to pursue. There is no better activity in life than to troll the depths of music history within YouTube.

He suffered so much and he also made the comment that Gordon Lightfoot has one of the coolest names before he died. I have known Gordon for over twenty years and he is a beautiful man and I wish I could have known Phil Ochs as well. He was a rising star before his disease got the better of him. I have known several people with bipolar disease and most of them killed themselves as did he. There but for fortune go you and me!

Why on EARTH have only 37 people liked this song? I think Christopher Hitchens was right----nobody remembers Phil Ochs. That's heartbreaking. Well, we remember him, and I thank you, Jake Johnson, for uploading this song. I don't even know HOW to upload song, which is pitiful--- I admit it. BUT I still have all my vinyls, thank heavens. .
