Like so many other AI contestants who shouldn't have won, Kris Allen is NOTHING to the music industry. Regardless of personal decisions, though, it's evident that the wrong person won that season - record sales and radio play alone can attest to that. Kris Allen was a flop while Adam Lambert was a huge success - that alone speaks volumes as to who the true American Idol winner was that season, and it sure as hell wasn't Kris Allen, regardless of whether or not he got the title.

A lot if it does come down to personal opinion, but I can honestly say that Adam Lambert was far superior to Kris Allen vocally. I listen to both genres - I listen to pretty much everything - so that isn't a bias for me. Range wise, pitch wise, and song-selection wise during the competition, Adam was superior to all of the contestants of his season...and yet, Kris Allen won.

Don't get me wrong - I love American Idol...but the best voice RARELY wins the competition. Some of the seasons make that incredibly obvious. Rueben Studdard, for instance, versus Clay Aiken. Wrong pick there. Fantasia Barino also shouldn't have won her season. Chris Daughtry should have won his. Adam should have won his. James Durbin should have won his - or at the very least Lauren Alaina. People vote largely based on looks - sadly, that's the way society is.

@1993btvs I've got to say I disagree. Yes, its true that homophobia isn't as rampant as it used to be, but it's still ever present. Adam's flamboyance was a lot of the reason he didn't win Idol - Danny Gokey's fan-base mostly reverted to Kris when Danny was kicked off by default. He was the widowed preacher everyone loved - Kris was far more similar in that way than the flamboyant rocker (Adam).
