BEST SOUND AT 720. WHY VINYL CAN SOUND BETTER THAN CD http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question487.htm I know it's a duplicated video as there are many posted, but this is my favorite song by Percy Faith, but I couldn't find any presently posted that sounded anything like I remember the 1960 45 sounding. So I got out my 1961 Lp, and duplicated it so everyone could hear the vinyl version. There seems to be something missing in the sound of the other formats compared to the original Lp. Columbia 1961 Stereo Lp recorded at the Columbia 30th Street Recording studios, history of the 30th street studio http://www.historyofrecording.com/columbiastudiosny.html Played on a Sony TTS 3000 turntable, an SME 3009 tonearm with an Ortofon 10 cartridge. ------- --------------- Theme from A Summer Place" is a song with lyrics by Mack Discant and music by Max Steiner, written for the 1959 film, A Summer Place, which starred Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. It was recorded for the film by Hugo Winterhalter. Originally known as the "Molly and Johnny Theme", the piece is not the main title theme of the film, but a love theme for the characters played by Dee and Donahue.

INCREDIBLE CLARITY! and a huge presence and wide audio band, it's worth noting that not just the vinyl format needs to be given total credit as the original recording methods used were heaps better than the sterile lifeless digital formats these days, the methods used way back when was pure analogue obviously and everything was mostly recorded ''live'' with also very little screening between studio mics so you would get a wide dynamic ''bleed'' from the other instruments which gave it that open full 360 degree presence of sound, nowadays so many recordings are so tightly controlled and isolated from the other instruments which give it that sterile and closed/boxed in sound and so much compression is used so the true emotion and feel of the song is totally lost. it's like a person that is sometimes a little quirky in their behaviour, if you medicate them too high you loose their real character. incredible condition of that record by the way

I have this song (and many others) on vinyl albums in in the Time Life collection easy listening favorites. And I have at least three vintage turntables to play them on. Do you remember the arguement about which drive type was better? Direct drive, belt or idler wheel. Dual swore by belt, but I prefered direct drive.

Had that same brush accessory. Remember the similar one that was a round tube filled with a cleaner fluid with a brush on the end? Operated the same way. I had several turntables back then, a Philips GA-212, Braun P100 (looked like it was built to military specs and even the inside was beautifully put together), AR turntable with a Linn Basik arm, and a Sony something or other that I mounted a Ortofon cartridge on that sounded great (for 2 years then it bit the dust).
