This is Leslie West of Mountain and Derek Holt Of the Blues Climax Band performing this Mountain classic, in London's Hammersmith Odeon Theatre in 1988.

I wanted to make sure that this song was recorded in high quality with the VERY BEST sound quality possible, with all possible levels turned up.

Enjoy one of the GREATEST GUITAR TONES of all time.

Holy shit, this is just..This is too powerful, I'd get emotional from the song and the loss of Felix alone, but Leslie fuckin' West man. Breathtaking.

This is my FAVE guitar performance of ALL time. Even with a Steinberger And a Whammy (not a fan of either) And it might be my ear lol, but that doesn't sound like an " active" pickup to me. Could be wrong. Mister West can work miracles with Anything. But this always brings a Smile to my face and a Tear to my eyes...

I still hope he and Clapton will do something together before it's too late. I could almost get the idea from the fact that Clapton has never acknowledged him that Leslie actually intimidates him. I'm aware that Clapton knows talent when he sees it, but it's like West is too much for even him to handle.

I've listened to this video many times . I think that this is probably one of the finest pieces of guitar work undiscovered. Pass along this outrageous guitar passages to the less knowing. Leslie West should be rated one of the best players out there.

An amazing display of acoustic mastery, antiphonal (room ambience) virtuosity, I don't think most realize what's occurring here. Leslie isn't just playing notes, he's in control of the entire theater as his instrument, he's playing the entire environment. Notice at 2:30 how his tone suddenly drops off and he adjusts it as the cameraman positions himself relative to his guitar pickups to cause interference with the room. The stage, the amplifiers and the air are his instruments in this performance, and his movements are instinctive as he moves to different parts of the stage for varying effects. Just amazing. Leslie was playing the acoustics of the room, the sound coming back at him dictating his next phrases and nuances. True playing in the moment. That's where that tone came from and why everyone is so struck by it as something quite unique. It's the tome of the entire room, not just the guitar, amp and EQ.

This is still, after being involved in music for over 50 years, possibly the finest example of how to play lead guitar ever recorded.Leslie, as usual, shows that its' what you play and how you play it that is far more important than how fast you play it!

This song meant so much to me in my life. It always brings me right back to a time when I was in SUCH a cool place....a time of change with such energy in the air. The coolest music ever...Jack Bruce just passing...the Cream reunion...seeing Leslie West so many times with Corky Lang..never saw them when Felix was still here. Still have TwinPeaks. Just so freakin awesome....takes me to another place entirely. I want this to be playing when I take my last breath!!!!

I enjoyed working with Leslie releasing "Theme" in 1985, his comeback album (with Howard Stern liner notes, no less) Jack sang the vocal and it smoked
