I must have seen them around this time when they played at The Dorothy in Cambridge. Wish I had seen them more. Loved them from the first time I saw them perform "I Can't Explain" on Ready Steady Go! THE greatest group in the world - ever! Townsend is a genius.

well remember how much that cost to do. and since the groups finances were routinely problematic pete was sometimes in desperate need of a guitar. as far as I know at this time the Rickenbacker he's playing was the only guitar he had (he would later smash it on nov 12 of that year). so if he broke it then they couldn't play! cus rickenbackers do not repair easily. by next month however he was able to get some more fenders (and ricks) and the guitar smashing resumed
