Us baby boomers were so lucky, unlike the kids of today we had real life super heroes:- Mohamed Ali, BruceLee, and the Who!

As great as the Isle of Wight, Woodstock, London Coliseum, and Live at Leeds/Hull performances are, this for me is The Who at their absolute peak. This is the benchmark that ALL bands should strive to reach when live on stage. I've never seen Keith play with such potency. You find sometimes that you don't even watch the other three. Poor old Roger eh. King of the frontmen but it was always gonna be difficult competing with John, Keith and Pete, but he managed it. Nobody else would've lasted five minutes with this lot. This is the performance that should have been released as a live album for me. It came to light over 20 years too late. Now its time to release the whole concert on DVD and CD.

Entwistle used to say this was their set opener for a while because of all the open notes let them tune up. Wish this wasn't removed from the 30 Yrs reissue DVD...

Keith Moon is the best drummer of his era. I don't even see a debate

These guys who come to this page expecting Black Sabbath. I feel sorry for these people. They don't know what true rock and roll is. Can't understand shit about music history and the real thing The Who was doing back then... Their contributions to music are perhaps the most significant of their era, I'm sorry if you disagree but no one was doing the stuff they were doing.

Watch Keith reach for a new stick (2:50), launch the broken one (2:52), break his right bass drum pedal (3:04) and play until the roadie fixes it ... ALL without missing a beat. No words do this justice.

Remember Dave Davies sound, loudness and aggression really inspired Pete, and Pete wrote " I Can' t Explain " after seeing The Kinks and hearing You Really Got Me and All Day and All of The Night.
