likely produced using a technique of subtracting what's common in both left and right channels, because that's where most vocals are mixed. This is evident because Pete Townsend is not 100% cancelled, and the backing vocals remain. Unfortunately, the middle is where most bass is imaged as well. I read an article in Popular Electronics (I think it was) about how to build just such a box. But part of its design was a low-pass filter which "added back in" the bass.What would be really great is to find a karaoke mix instead, which was produced from the studio masters where all the different parts (percussion, synth, guitar, bass, vocals, etc.) were recorded separately, so there would be no vocals, period.
