The White Stripes performed "We Are Going to Be Friends" on the final episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien. At O'Brien's request, the band came out of hiatus to perform. It was notable because Meg was not playing a percussion instrument. It would also prove to be the band's final live performance.

A love? I think it looks like she's doing her job.. not rekindling something that he hopes she never mentions or thinks about again... their love.

What's the story behind this? Everybody seems so sad about this live performance.

This video makes me tear up. Jack is obviously emotional here, so sad.

your majesty

meg is the sweetest thing, a shy, retiring accidental musician. what a story. it makes this otherwise uninteresting girl interesting. her voice is weak and off key but she is the sweetest thing. I love this song. it makes me think of jack in Detroit as a child being a little isolated, a little bit oddball. but look at him now. gorgeous, sexy, desirable, creative dedicated artist who can write resonant music. I love you jack

I wonder if Meg sits alone and has learned to play the guitar and just plays this song and she listens to Jack's music and plays some of them on her guitar. Maybe one day they'll reunite and play acoustics together and play this song as their announcement that they are gonna be working together. Except the version sounds more hopeful and they both sing and play it happily and powerfully. Only in my dreams, huh? ):

Rock n Roll, by definition is imperfection. It is music from the heart, precession be damned. Everybody that says it sucked is entitled to their opinion, but I think they killed it.

Is it just me or is Meg's guitar not doing what Meg is doing? It could just have an echo effect on. Can't tell.
