not a bad cover. surprised that Jack White tries to imitate Van Vliet's vocal inflections. Oh well. Send your mother home your navel.

First, pick not one of Beefheart's best work and then make a terrible, simplist version of it. Pffft.

same, in the end they will only remember his art, and it won't matter if he had an "authentic" personality (which is totally subjective by the way), so it is the art that matters. You either respect what he puts out in the world or you don't, the rest is silly.

There is not one White Stripes song that I can say I truly don't like. Sure I preferred the older, raunchier, garage-y stuff and some songs don't move me as much as others, but the Stripes are one of those bands that I can listen to for days, weeks even, ignore alll other music, and love it. Like Cream, or Hendrix, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Black Sabbath. Some bands just hit that place in your heart and the music is like candy for your ears and your head. I will always love the Stripes!

@RaoulDukeOfEarl He gets a great distorted garage sound out of that guitar, writes great songs, and has a cool persona. That's why those of us who love the Stripes love his music. Live and let live dude.

@RaoulDukeOfEarl He doesnt go out of his way at all, thats what makes him authentic.

@a8zd710h8 There's a lot of things that are sadder than me not liking Jack White as much as you. I just think he goes out of his way to appear "odd", like a high school kid who realizes that the only way anybody will ever notice him is if he seems "weird". I've got about 1000 CD's, around 10,000 LP's & 45's- I'm close to saturated with music. BTW- I liked the respect Jack showed Jimmy Page in "It Might Get Loud". And the respect he showed for music. Whatever.

@RaoulDukeOfEarl If seven nation army was the only song you liked by Jack thats kind of sad...their most hit song on elephant...and now you think he isnt a poser, because of a cover..? there is many better songs in my opinion on elephant, and on many of his better albums.... so if you want to re-assess your 'opion' you should check out, The White Stripes, White Blood Cells, De Stilj, and Elephant at least... the latest two albums are also good, but not garage sound.
