I love what Jack does with just Meg there. Having played in more than a few bands and engineered cd projects in studio, I have to say that forcing the whole band structure into every project, usually stifles the expression and creativity of the talented writers in the band. Jack was very smart in not allowing his expression to be held back due to having to be democratic. Having to let each band member have their say usually dilutes the intensity of the music, not always but usually.
