This was the last concert of the 2013 US tour before Eric Clapton starts up his 2013 Crossroads Festival at MSG. During the last song guess who stepped up to the stage in street clothes grabbed a guitar and joined in. Jakob Dylan was almost in tears he was so thankful. I found out later it was unrehearsed and unplanned. At the very last show of the tour Eric shows up to join in and brought the house down as only Eric Clapton can. It set the stage for the rest of the night.... See more Clapton from that night on my channel.

Well well well, lookie who's owning up to his father's greatness. I'm so glad he (Jakub Dylan) decided to sing his fathers' friend's song. When we will see them (Jakub and Bob). on one stage is another question. Giddy up Jakub! Btw kudos, best rendition next to your ole man's!

How gracious Jakob is towards Eric at the end & Eric dashing over to the mic was awesome. Top notch all the way. Thankful to see this.

Not to mention also that EC's Fender Twin happened to be sitting there right behind him...

umm, that is Eric's guitar. No one in WF plays one like that. Eric has been seen with that guitar all for 2 years. It was planned. Why would EC have a guitar leaning sitting in a stand on stage, tuned and ready to go? Pay attention.

Jakob's toured with EC before but the rest of the band hadn't. I was at this concert. Flew in from Canada to catch the Wallflowers. They were awesome!

I love this! Just some good old boys, rocking and reminiscing to the past. I love Clapton and Dylan Jr. together...so natural!

jakob dylan probably grew up singing this song while other kids were learning old mc donald had a farm.

Nice...gotta love the bass player's face.. Just like a little kid at Christmas...and who wouldn't be with EC on stage next to you..!! Not totally spontaneous though as I doubt the band just happened to have a spare pewter EC Strat and Tweed Twin amp hanging around..

rockeridolfumc.... Great post. I agree 100%. No other artist lights me up like Eric. He is one of a kind and I have seen 7 of the top 10 of Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists from 4 rows back or closer. I see him every chance I get. Its like a drug. Each time I see him I am more amazed at his creativity, technique, and machine like precision with that creativity. He never plays the song the same way. Even from Nashville to Pittsburgh on this tour he changed up the how the songs were arranged and how he played them. This concert, I got the front row and sat right in front of Eric's microphone. I will treasure the experience for ever.

It is really cool to see Eric step out on a song that he is obviously not very familiar with, with a band he is not accustomed to playing with, and have so much fun and play so well. One day in the not too distant future, he will quit playing out on tour and we will miss things like this. He truly is an elder statesman of rock and blues guitar and has done it all and then some. I love how he has over the years shed the light on so many others - the old bluesmen who he was inspired by, and new younger guns who deserve that time in the limelight.

so cool. bob must be so proud of him. i bet he grew up listening to the weight. great to see him playing with a legend such as clapton. the only thing cooler would be to hear him sing with his dad.
