The Weekenders - "Chin Up"

Artist city, country: Salt Lake City, UT

Genre: BlankTV

Artist Biography: The Weekenders play uncompromising, in-your-face rock n' roll. Fans and critics have compared their blues-rock hybrid sound to The Black Keys, The White Stripes and Led Zeppelin. Raised on classic rock and Motown, but seduced by the crunch of grunge, The Weekenders embrace the dangerous and dirty side of rock. With Rob Reinfurt on guitar and lead vocals, Mike Torgerson on bass, Mike Sasich at the guitar and Shaun Thomas holding down the drums, The Weekenders are a groove powered rock force. The Weekenders fuzz-laden riff rock forms the foundation for Reinfurt's introspective and gritty lyrics.

Thanks to a marijuana deal gone wrong, Reinfurt found himself facing some hefty federal charges and serious jail time. Most of the songs on their debut album, Don't Plan On, are inspired by Reinfurt's struggles. "It made me realize my true passion -- music," Reinfurt reflects. "It was the worst and best event in my life...I wouldn't take it back for a second." Perhaps the album's most autobiographical tune is the rabble rousing, Twenty Armed Men, in which he fittingly exclaims, "What is it worth to see the light of day....Hold me down for a while. I got nothing to say!"

With solid musical roots, powerful hooks and vulnerable lyrics, The Weekenders are not to be missed.

Director Name: Nick Steffens

About The Video: Rob Reinfurt, singer/songwriter for rock n' roll group The Weekenders was arrested in 2009 on federal marijuana trafficking conspiracy charges along with his close friend, Eric Canori and famous mountain biker, Missy Giove.

Eric and him by law and request of their probation officers were/are not allowed to contact each other. Being that Eric is in NY and Rob is in UT, Rob felt the urge to reach out to his friend upon hearing his sentencing, but without violating the terms. Eric was sentenced to 30 months in prison which he started on Jan 8th. Before he went to prison Rob needed to express his feelings so he wrote this song. He had a feeling it would reach him through the grapevine, as he's told it did.

According to Rob "Eric is a close friend and a kind and generous man. I wanted him to know we're all thinking of him and shining light his way."
