Their first single, "Pretty Girls Everywhere", had little success, but radio stations picked up on the follow-up "Love Her" with Engel's baritone vocals, and it made the Top 20 in the UK Singles Chart in June 1965. The song was originally recorded by The Everly Brothers and released as B-side to their single "The Girl Who Sang The Blues" in 1963. it made the UK Top 20 in June 1965. Lyrics to Love Her by The Walker Brothers:

Love her, and tell her each day

That girl needs to know, tell her so

Tell her everything I couldn't say

Like she's warm, and she's sweet, and she's fine

Whoah, love her

Like I should have done

And hold her, and show her you care

When her world is blue, see her through

Any time that she needs you, be there

By her side, be the guy, that I couldn't be

And love her

Like I should have done

Please, love her

Love her for me

Hold her, and show her you care

When her world is blue, see her through

Any time that she needs you, be there

By her side, be the guy, that I couldn't be

And love her

Yeah, come on

Love her

Love her for me

This one missed out on their debut in UK (which was everywhere). Probably should have got a better reception. Quite dramatic and Scott is excellent, I think it reached number 27,

Has lost none of it's aching power in conveying the end of the dream in the 50 years since l first heard it. Will the 12 yr olds of today think the same of today's offerings in 2065?

No sad love ballads in pop music now. That's pretty sad.

I just love listening to the wonderful Walker Brothers. It takes me right back to the mid 1960's when music was music and romance was still alive. Brilliant!
