KH was a great band, but in some ways, a change really did work. She's taken a new approach to her vocal abilities. You're absolutely right, they should be more well known, but if they were known by everybody, The Verses might be taken for granted and played on the radio every 10 minutes and might just become another cog in the seemingly indestructible mainstream machine of music. We are the privileged people to hear her words. Check out Young Marble Giants if you like beautiful female vocals.

When I saw a photo of Ella Hooper and her brother Jesse in the Herald Sun newspaper when the band 'Killing Heidi" were in operation on October 2000 I thought that Ella was something that came from outer space. I never got into their music as it was too left wing pop for me as I was a former rythm & blues/rock 'n' roll member of a 60's band. But after I have crossed over to country rock and seeing Ella performing on 'Rockwiz' with Troy Cassar-Daley I became interested in her singing style.

I really tried to get into the verses, because I'm a massive Killing Heidi fan from back in the day, but I just don't see this style doing her voice any justice at all.
