A favorite! The closest the Velvet Underground ever came to sounding like Pink Floyd. I say that mostly because of the tempo and drum style, and the organ. This wouldn't sound out of place on Meddle, or Saucerful of Secrets. (I've always wondered what Lou Reed and Roger Waters thought of each other. I know they talked.)I always thought it was weird that this was labeled an "outtake", when it's so finished and professional-sounding. If this is the "outtake", what's the "take"?!?

I like this version best. I love VU and this song. but I'm sorry.. can anyone else imagine Adam Sandler singing the chorus? sounds just like his stupid voice from those SNL skits

This song has a "Halloween" feel to it, doesn't it? I don't mean that in a derogatory way or a comical way. I'm a big Lou Reed/VU fan. But I could see this song being played in a haunted mansion tour. Certain versions of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" have a similar "Halloweenish" feel to them.

Well, Moe disagree's with you.... /watch?v=X_k9P0eWTAY&t=0m12s To me, it just loses a lot of the majesty without Moe's cymbals (as heard on 'V.U.') and I like how some of the parts fade in and out (like the ocean). In any case, it's great to hear a variety of takes. I'm very glad the 'Sad Song' demo surfaced. I'd love to have heard some alternate takes of 'I heard her call my name.'

This was included as an extra on the box "Peel Slowly and See." If you are a Velvets fan and do not own it, go buy it ASAP or download off iTunes. Probably the best compilation I have come across for a group.
