Rarely felt a connection with a song on the first listen, but I remember exactly where I was walking, what the weather was like, everything from when I first heard this song. When the guitar solo came in around 2:09, I remember I couldn't hold back the tears; it sent such a feeling of liberation rushing through me.

Is this Lou or Doug singing lead? I saw a book (*Seeing the Light: Inside the Velvet Underground*) saying Doug sang lead, but it sounds exactly like Lou's then-fragile style of melodic singing, not unlike "I Found a Reason" from *Loaded*. The chorus harmonies certainly figure Lou prominently, on the low note; I'd know that uncontrolled vibrato anywhere.It does also a *little* bit like Doug. If it is, he's definitely imitating a Lou Reed demo or performance.
