I so prefer the Turtle's version to that of Mr Mcgwire.

This song is more relevant today than in those days.

This could use a remix. But the military snare drum is an interesting touch. I put this one and Barry McGuire's hit in my Turtles playlist. Thanks for uploading!

As much as I love the Turtles theyre just a little too light hearted and tongue in cheek to pull off this heavy song

This is not a cover, The Turtles were the first ones to record this song. It was released on their debut album It Ain't Me Babe

G'night, all. The Turtles, "Eve of Destruction"My takeaway from this is that we're always on the eve of destruction. Today's issues are sometimes different, sometimes the same as yesterday's. But some of the issues that seemed more pressing then than they turned out to be may be coming due...The Turtles - Eve Of Destruction

Yeah, McGuire had a whole deep, raspy thing going on. Hard to cover that part. But the Turtles do some of my favorite covers. Gotta love them.

Never heard The Turtles' version of this great song. Interesting - not too bad. Thanks for posting it! I don't think anyone can equal the impact that McGuire had with this tune but that's from my perspective. The Turtles version came out (after The Byrds rejected it) right before the infamous McGuire version hit the airwaves but I don't think anyone from 'my generation' will remember anything other than the iconic version that took over that summer and the years following.

oneo f my favorite bands from back then. They did many cover tunes, and often they were songs by some of the best songwriters and bands.

You're right. In '65 the Turtles music kicked ass. I loved every song on the album this song was taken from.
