A song that will be linked forever to singer Dusty Springfield is the Ivor Raymonde composition from 1963 "I Only Wanna Be With You". Springfield had a hit with this song early 1964 and was one of the first artists to appear in the (then new) British popmusic TV show "Top of the Pops" - of which the first program was broadcast on January 1st 1964. The song was covered by numerous vocal artists including Elton John (as a tribute when he learned of her passing away in 1999) and Luis Miguel.
The song was often used in commercials as well and in some cases this even lead to re-releases of the original 64 recording. Here Tony Hatch brings us an easy going and romantic version of the song - the perfect 'wake up music' for a sunday morning :) ..
(and all other mornings for that matter ;-)
From the 1983 album "Quiet Nights" here's Tony Hatch and His Orchestra with that 1964 chartbuster "I Only Want To Be With You". Enjoy.
