Wow! There really is no other way to say it except to say that for this ballad--and, in fact, every song that Paul led or sang background vocals on, it is impossible for any listener not to hear the emotion and his very soul coming through. And this is so true to the point that it almost seems that these songs were tailor-made to be sung by him. In fact, when I listened to these songs as a child--and even to this very day--I always wondered, which came first: Was it the certain way that the song was written to be sung? Or, had the song been written based on some event or experience in Paul's life? Truly and absolutely, I can not deny that when listening to Paul sing, I have always felt that he must have been experiencing the very issue that he was singing about in the song! Even today, I still can't help but feel and believe that somehow the songs he sang were written based on events that he had personally experienced or, was experiencing in his life at that time the songs were created. Clearly, it can't be put any other way except to say that the man was just too real and put so much of himself into his songs and every aspect of his performances until, he always seemed to be singing about his own life.
