Another fantastic track where Otis Williams showcases his lead singing ability. It's a real mellow song taken from the All Directions album. (Although I got it from the Emperors of Soul box set - strongly reccomended btw).

if people know Otis says he hate singing lead....when he does i tear it up....every temptation singer could sing...that made them special..Otis kept the back ground harmony together and the group together.....OTIS did his thing on this!

IF YOU ALL REMEMBER THE SONG.."I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU" WHICH ORIGINALLY SANG BY THE PLATTERS AND THE FLAMINGO'S LISTEN TO THE LYRICS..THEY'RE DIFFERENT BUT THE MUSIC IS ALMOST THE SAME..TEMPTS FOR EVER....

Wow, Otis was really talented as a singer. I've been listening to The Tempts for about 12 years now. I recently came across this song, and I like it a lot. Great message for the everyday average man trying to make it in this world.

I stand corrected (I really consider Dennis as "1B" original, but you are right. Eddie and Paul are at the top of the list!

Sorry, must disagree. Entitled to your opinion but DENNIS, EDDIE, PAUL, MELVIN & OTIS are the "Second Classic Five Line Up"!! Love RICHARD & DAMON but choose them two over EDDIE & PAUL?.......NEVER!!

This is the "Second Classic Five" Lineup - Otis, Melvin, Richard Street, Dennis Edwards, and Damon on the Eddie Kendricks First Tenor...A great lineup!

he also started off on Cant You See Sweet Thing from the power album,he speaks, then sings "Life wouldn't be complete without your love" and "he sang lead with Ali Woodson on "You Send Me Away" and he sang lead with Louis Price on "I See My Child"

i'm so new to this world i stumbled on. i love it. never knew there are so many die hard fans of the tempt's. my heart has been pounding with excitment since i found this site. it makes me wish i could have experienced the music back then as the teenager my mom was as opposed to being the child i was who appreciates every lyric flowing through the mouths of the most enchanting men i could know. my neice was only 3 when the movie debut and to this day we laugh when we hear the song "shout".

How ironic....."I Ain't Got Nothing" has been one of my all-time favorite Temptation tunes since.....forever. It also happens to be the only Tempts song that I can recall Otis Williams taking command of the lead vocals. There's a message in this somewhere, perhaps two: 1) Otis Williams can SING, 2) He should have let the world know that a little more often.
